I’ve had enough dance classes that I have the opposite problem. I can describe someone’s dancing very, very accurately, but nobody else can picture what I mean by an umi or a “pas de bouree”.

One of my manuscripts was heavily influenced by John Denver for atmosphere, but the real theme song was “Mr. Right” by A Rocket to the Moon.

The one I’m working on right now is all kinds of inspired by Something Corporate and other sunny SoCal pop punk. I couldn’t really pick a theme song, but probably closest would be “Miss America” or “Ruthless” by Something Corporate. They’re my favourite band of all time, they really inspire my writing.

Whenever I’m creating pen and paper Shadowrun characters for games (It’s a dystopian future with fairy tale-ish elements) I actually enjoy Evanescence or some lovely Broadway like Wicked. There’s a song called Snow White Queen by Evanescence that is utterly wonderful.

Awesome question. Also, I adore this Best Coast song. "Five Years" by Bowie was my Daughter of Earth song. So far, I love Creedence by Casiotone for the Painfully Alone is my new project song. Both have more to do with the backstory/world building than they do with the main plot, though.

Judging from all the blog posts I’ve seen online, it seems as if everybody hates the Javits Center. Is it held there every year? Because now I’m going to feel slightly shortchanged if I never get to experience its nightmarish properties.

I was going to say that I think Steven Brust describes eating terrifically, but then I realized it’s just that he describes meals with stunning ability. Which is different altogether than eating.

Also, this reminds me of Lovecraft, who often describes cultists and other half-human evil sorts dancing during their evil, mind-bending rites. How does he describe them? As “dancing horribly.” Which just makes me laugh.

I mean, really, why denigrate them for their bad dancing? Not everyone has rhythm.
